Dimensions vs Dimension Values

A Dimension can be thought of as a category that provides context to a data point. An example is the dimension Employee that provides context to a Value Type Salary.

Dimension Values on the other hand are individual members of a dimension (or rows in the Dimension table). For example, an individual employee Bob is a Dimension Value in the Dimension Employee.
